These Dutchess School Districts Among Best In State For SAT Scores

Two school districts in Dutchess County ranked among the best in New York state for their total average score on the SATs, according to this article in newyorkupstate.com.

Spackenkill Union Free School District in Town of Poughkeepsie ranked 10th among 600 upstate school districts. Their 42 students taking the SATs had an average total score of 1204. Their average score on the Evidence-based Reading and Writing test was 587 and their average math score was 617.

Rhinebeck Central School District ranked 19th among 600 upstate school districts for its outstanding SAT scores.

A total of 70 Rhinebeck students took the SATs. Their average total score was 1188. Rhinebeck's average score on the Evidence-based Reading and Writing test was 602. The district's average score on the math component of the SATs was 585.

More than 135,141 New York state students took the new SAT in 2017. The average total score was 1052. Statewide, the average Evidence-based Reading and Writing (ERW) score was 528 and the average math score was 523, according to newyorkupstate.com

Nationally, about 1.7 million students took test. The average total score was 1060, average ERW score was 533 and average math score was 527.

2017 was the first year for students to take a new version of the test.
