PAWLING, N.Y. - Area fly fishermen looking for top-shelf flies, wrapping materials and accessories in the Dutchess County area know all about Angler's Den in Pawling.
"We're one of the last actual fly stores - there aren't a lot left," Manager Matt Hackett told Daily Voice during a recent visit. "What separates us is that we have a lot of fly tying material. Several shops in the area have closed, people order stuff on the internet - but we still have a unique selection of stuff that still keeps people coming in. And in the winter we keep going - tying flies.
"We probably have some of the most unique stuff in the world," Hackett added of the store's flies. "And we're the home of English Angling Trappings, an English fly company."
The family-run Angler's Den also offers guided trips, river reports, all types of rods, reels, boxes, tools, hooks, apparel and anything else you might need.
