The Dutchess County Department of Public Works announced on Thursday that work is expected to begin on Aug. 1 to replace Bridge C-19 on Hollow Road in Clinton.
According to officials, the bridge, which is located over the Little Wappinger Creek, was originally constructed is in 1931 and is in need of replacement due to structural deficiencies.
Project work includes the replacement of the existing bridge and abutments, improvements to the existing curve across the bridge, widened lanes, expanded shoulders and the installation of new stone parapets to maintain the historical landscape of the area surrounding the bridge.
Approximately 1,500 vehicles travel over the bridge each day, officials noted. Work on the bridge is expected to last through the fall.
During construction, motorists have been advised that there may be delays in the area and to exercise additional caution on the posted detour routes. The project detour map can be seen above.
