The area saw a high temperature hit the mid-80s April 17, but it's been unseasonably cool in the month since then.

That trend will end.

"This week, temperatures are likely to surpass the 87-degree mark, which was the highest temperature of the year so far," AccuWeather.com Chief Meteorologist Elliot Abrams said.

Following real-feel temps in the 30s, 40s and 50s into Tuesday morning, area residents will go from long sleeves and jackets to perspiring in shorts and short sleeves by Wednesday afternoon, AccuWeather said.

The warming trend starts Tuesday with mostly sunny skies and a high in the upper 70s.

Wednesday will be even warmer, with plenty of sun, and a high in the mid- to upper-80s.

That hot air continues Thursday with the potential for a high temperature of 90 degrees in some spots with a mix of sun and clouds and a chance of a shower.

Friday will again be warm and sunny with a high in the mid-80s.

Temps will drop to a high in the low-70s Saturday and mid-60s Sunday.
