Dragon's Den, located at Poughkeepsie Plaza, was seized by the State Department of Taxation and Finance Wednesday for having 18 open warrants and owing to the state $177,609.84, according to James Gazzale, a spokesman for the state.

Gazzalle said nine warrants were for withholding tax, eight were for sales tax and one was for corporation tax.

"Seizing a business is always the last resort," Gazzalle said. "Long before this happens, we're in communication with the business owner trying to resolve the debt. We let them know if the debt goes unpaid, seizing the business is a real possibility."

Gazzale said they are trying to find a way to resolve the debt so Dragon's Den can reopen.

A GoFundMe page was launched Wednesday by Casey Said, a manager for the store to help turn the lights back on. As of Thursday, almost $1100 has been raised.
