The 8th annual La Guelaguetza Festival is taking place at Waryas Park at 1 Main Street Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. The event features authentic food, costumes, music and dancing.
The goal of the festival is to commemorate Zapotec origins and Mexican heritage while also giving the community a chance to celebrate together and embrace diversity.
"This is a fantastic opportunity for people of all backgrounds and cultures to celebrate how our diversity makes us a stronger and richer community," Felipe Santos, one of the organizers and a director of Grupo Folclorico de Poughkeepsie, said.
