Gardeners beware.

Especially if you are planting new fruit trees.

The spotted lanternfly (which sometimes can look like a butterfly) is decimating trees in adjoining states, and has now shown up in New York state, according to various news reports.

They are initially attracted to tree of heaven and grape vines before spreading to fruit trees.
