“This is the highest level of accreditation that can be awarded to us,” rehabilitation unit director Carol Charmello said. “We put ourselves through a rigorous peer-review process, demonstrating to a team of surveyors during a site inspection our commitment to offering programs and services that are measurable, accountable and of high quality.”
The Paul Rosenthal center provides intense physical, occupational and speech-language therapies to patients recovering from stroke, orthopedic surgery, brain injury and other conditions. The accreditation process consists of ongoing consultation and an in-depth on-site review of the hospital’s acute rehabilitation unit.
Located within Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, the rehabilitation unit offers 10 private patient rooms, a spacious therapy gym and a community dining room, as well as skilled nurses and therapists.
CARF is an independent nonprofit that provides a framework, then advises Northern Dutchess on how to improve the quality of rehabilitation care.
