The two personal trainers work at Gold's Gym Dutchess County, which serves more than 11,000 members in LaGrange and Fishkill.
“Gold’s Gym is proud that two of our own will join the ranks of the Hudson Valley’s finest soccer players,” said Kim Kenyon, managing partner at Gold’s Gym Dutchess County. She added that both are experienced sportsmen who know what it takes, both physically and mentally, to compete at a high-level.
Phillips played collegiate-level soccer at Herkimer College, earning a National Championship, and at Medaille College, winning the Eastern College Athletic Conference’s Defensive Player of the Year award. He went on to play professional soccer at both the Premier Development League and Major League Soccer levels.
Zobre, on the other hand, played Division 1 soccer at Binghamton University and was recognized as an America East Second Team All-Conference player. He was named to the America East All-Academic Team and has held coaching positions at Hartwick College, as well as Poughkeepsie High School.
In addition to their responsibilities as Gold's personal trainers, Phillips and Zobre lead the gym's Elite Athletic Development Program in which youth athletes learn a variety of techniques designed to maximize overall fitness, strength and speed and reduce recovery time in order to help limit the risk of injury.
The newly-formed Kingston Stockade Football Club is one of 65 National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) teams in the country and competes in the North Atlantic conference, taking the field against the New York Cosmos B, Boston City FC and the Seacoast Mariners, among others. Gold’s Gym is the official fitness club of the team, comprised of local players from around the Hudson Valley.
