Fedigan was honored by the Exchange Club of Southern Dutchess for his dedicated service to helping others with its Meritorious Service Award on Tuesday.

The event also raised more than $1,000 to support the victims of the fire in the Wappingers Falls and $900 to support Autism Society Hudson Valley in honor of Fedigan’s involvement with these causes.

“In many respects, Jack Fedigan represents the best in all of us – someone who came here as a young man fifty years ago; who stayed here and raised a family here; and also made time to volunteer in many ways in order to make a meaningful difference,” said Club President Denise Doring VanBuren.

Among the speakers who honored Fedigan was Wappingers Falls Village Mayor Matt Alexander, who commended Fedigan for his many contributions to the Village.

Fedigan, who moved to Fishkill in 1967, is a former New York City police officer. He and his father acquired a small lighting manufacturing business that they moved to the former Dutchess Bleachery in Wappingers Falls in 1975. Together with his brother, he purchased a large portion of the complex in 1989 and has revitalized it to attract new tenants to its location.

Long active in the Wappingers Falls Business and Professional Association, Fedigan served several terms as a director and is a past president of the group. He has been an active volunteer on behalf of the village’s annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, its annual cleanup, its holiday decoration committee and many other nonprofits.
