Archdiocese Confirms Parish Closures, Mergers; None In Putnam
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- The Archdiocese of New York has announced the last decisions reached by Cardinal Timothy Dolan for the final 16 proposed parish mergers that have been under consideration and deliberation by the parish clusters and the archdiocesan planning board over the last year-and-a-half. The changes affect 12 parishes in Westchester County. No Putnam County churches were affected. There were no changes from the list released in November. Norwalk Youth Symphony Performs Mother's Day Concert
NORWALK, Conn. -- The Norwalk Youth Symphony will perform a Mother's Day concert on Sunday from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the Norwalk Concert Hall at City Hall, 125 East Ave. The annual Mother's Day concert marks the end of the Norwalk Youth Symphony's concert season. The concert traditionally includes the presentation of graduating seniors. Also, the Ramer Memorial Scholarship will be awarded to a deserving senior chosen by their peers on the basis of leadership, commitment, preparation, and attendance. Norwalk Golf Tourney To Benefit Connecticut Burn Center
NORWALK, Conn. -- The Michael Ness Play It Forward Golf Tournament will take place Tuesday, May 19, at Oak Hills Park in Norwalk. The tournament will help raise money to support the Connecticut Burn Center and to celebrate the life of a local young man who was treated at the Bridgeport Hospital facility. Yonkers Man Admits To $200K Medicaid Fraud Scheme
WESTCHESTER COUNTY, N.Y. – Carewell Ambulette Inc. and its owner, Kurien Palliankal, 48, of Yonkers, have pleaded guilty to stealing more than $200,000 from the Medicaid program, state Attorney General Eric T. Schneiderman Wednesday. The company, formerly based in New Rochelle, provided transportation services to Medicaid recipients throughout Westchester and neighboring counties.
