STAMFORD, Conn. -- Frank Rende Jr. died suddenly Monday, Aug. 10. He was 78.
Rende was born Feb. 17, 1937, to Frank and Marietta Rende of Port Chester, N.Y.

STAMFORD, Conn. -- Edward Pollak, 80, a longtime Stamford resident, died Sunday, Aug 9.
Pollak received his bachelor's degree in chemical engineering and master's in business from Cornell University and worked for many years in the chemicals industry.
He was a senior vice president of Olin Corp. and president and chief executive officer of Olin Hunt Specialty Products. He managed Olin's joint ventures in Japan, Europe, Australia, South Africa and Venezuela, and directed Witco Corp.'s Asia Pacific operations from Singapore.

NEW ROCHELLE, N.Y. -- Jack Scarangella, a longtime resident of New Rochelle, died peacefully Sunday, Aug. 9. He was 92.
Scarangella was born Aug. 3, 1923, in the Bronx, to the late Frank and Felice (Paccione) Scarangella. He worked as a district manager for Social Security for more than 44 years. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He volunteered his time serving on numerous community boards and organizations, including the New Rochelle Office of the Aging and the Chamber of Commerce.
