The mother and daughter killed in a crashed that claimed the lives of three people and two dogs early Wednesday morning on I-84 in Orange County have been identified.
A Bridgeport, Connecticut woman, her 9-year-old daughter and another woman were killed early Wednesday when they ran out of gas on I-84 in New York and a tractor-trailer slammed into their car, according to the Daily Freeman.
The accident occurred at about 4 a.m. as the women were calling 911 for help from the right lane of I-84 west between Exits 3 and 2 in Wawayanda, N.Y., near Middletown, shutting down the road until about noon, the Freeman said.
Jesenia Valentin, who was driving, and her 9-year-old daughter, Angelina Rodriguez, were killed. The third victim, reportedly a woman who was in the passenger seat, was not identified, the Freeman said.
Three minutes into the 911 call, the operator heard a crash and a dog yelp before the phone went dead, the Daily Freeman said.
No charges have been filed against the truck driver, who thought the car was moving with its emergency flashers on, the Freeman said.
