Researchers have been getting in touch with owners of thousands of properties in "50 neighborhoods from Beacon to Pine Plains" where Lyme rates are elevated, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal report.

The Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies is carrying out the research, said the Poughkeepsie Journal.

A Steven & Alexandra Cohen Foundation $5 million grant is largely funding the study, the Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Steven A. Cohen, hedge fund manager, founded SAC Capital Advisors and Point72 Asset Management, said the report.
