Woman Charged In Fiancé's Kayaking Death Blocked From Insurance Proceeds

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Angelika Graswald, the woman charged with her fiancé’s murder after he drowned while kayaking in April, has been blocked from getting any of his life insurance proceeds until further notice, reports the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Several companies, including the Parsons Brinckerhoff Group where Graswald’s fiancé, Vincent Viafore, worked, and State Farm Life and Accident, are blocked from paying Graswald any money until a final determination has been made in the cause of Viafore’s death, according to the report.

Graswald, 35, of Poughkeepsie, is in jail awaiting trial on second-degree murder and manslaughter charges. Her next court appearance is on Thursday, Jan. 28, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.
