Man Sentenced For Shooting At Cops Leading To School Lockdown In Area
A man who fired multiple shots at police officers near an area school has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Keith M. Potik, age 28, of Wappingers Falls, was sentenced on Friday, Aug. 20 for the incident which took place on Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, just blocks away from a primary school, leading to a school lockdown in Red Hook.
Potik, who pleaded guilty to two counts of attempted murder, as well as two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

Passenger Killed In Western Mass Crash
One person was killed during a two-vehicle crash in Western Massachusetts.
The crash took place around 7 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, in Hampden County, at 177 Chapin Street in Ludlow, said Ludlow Police Chief Daniel Valadas.
During the crash, which involved two Subarus, a passenger in one of the vehicles was trapped and had to be extracted using the jaws of life, police said.
Additional passengers and drivers were also injured, all were transported to Baystate Medical Center in Springfield.

CT Girl Killed After Being Hit By Car While Talking With Family Member, Police Say
A 14-year-old Connecticut girl was killed after being hit by a car while she stood and talked with another driver in a Dodge Charger.
The accident took place in Litchfield County around 9 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 22, when the teen was talking with the driver of the Charger, who was a family member, on Route 222 (Hill Road), in Harwinton, said Connecticut State Pollice.
The teen who was standing on the shoulder of the roadway was hit when the second car, a Pontiac, swerved to the miss the stopped Charger, state police said.

Body Of Wall Street Escort From Fairfield County Found Stuffed In Barrel
A high-end escort whose body was found stuffed in a barrel and dumped on a quiet residential street in the region was born and raised in Fairfield County.
Nicole Flanagan, age 42, of Greenwich, was found on Friday, Aug. 13, stuffed in the barrel in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey after residents noticed a horrible smell coming from it, according to a report in The New York Post.
Flanagan, the mother of three, was born in Greenwich, and has family in town, according to her obituary.

Fairfield County Man Arrested For Preventing Uber Driver From Leaving With Customer, Police Say
An area man has been arrested for allegedly preventing a person he had a domestic dispute with from leaving with an Uber driver.
Fairfield County resident Timothy Flay, age 23, of Norwalk, was arrested on Saturday, Aug. 14 by Darien Police for not allowing an Uber driver to leave with a paying customer, said Sgt. James Palmieri.
When Darien Police arrived on the scene, it was determined that after an argument with the victim, Flay was physically blocking the victim from leaving in an Uber vehicle, Palmieri said.

Three Gang Members In Area Nabbed For Stabbing, Police Say
Three gang members have been charged with allegedly stabbing a man.
The incident took place around 1 a.m., Friday, Aug. 20 when City of Poughkeepsie officers on patrol spotted the three chase, tackle, punch, kick and stab the victim.
As the officers pulled up to the scene the three men fled and were chased on foot into the area of N. White, Main Streets, and the eastbound arterial, said Detective Lieutenant Matt Clark.
