Uber Rider From Westchester Becomes Violent With Driver, Police Say An area man was arrested after forcing an Uber driver to take him to New York when he allegedly became physically violent in Fairfield County. Westchester resident, Christopher Doherty, age 57, of Larchmont, turned himself in to police on Thursday, Aug. 12, for the incident which took place on Friday, July 30 in Darien, authorities said. The complainant, a driver for Uber, reported that he had responded to a Darien address earlier in the evening to pick up a fare, according to police. Western Mass Woman Wins $320K In State Lottery A woman won a whopping $320,000 playing Keno in the Massachusetts State Lottery. The winner, Hampden County resident Sharon Miner matched all numbers in the 9-spot game on Wednesday, Aug. 18, according to lottery officials. Miner, of Holyoke, played a $2 ticket and added the Keno Bonus for an additional $2. The Keno Bonus multiplier for this draw was 4X. Driver Injured After Fleeing Hudson Valley Speeding Stop, Crashing Into Tree New York State Police are investigating an incident in which the driver allegedly fled during a traffic stop and later crashed into a tree. The incident in Dutchess County began in East Fishkill around 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19 when troopers stopped the car for allegedly speeding. Latest LI Overdose Victim Revived, May Be Linked To Lethal Fentanyl-Laced Cocaine, Police Say Police on Long Island say another overdose victim who was revived may be linked to fentanyl-laced cocaine that has caused six deaths and several overdoses. In Suffolk County, Southold Police Chief Martin Flatley said a 34-year-old victim from Laurel suffered an overdose at his home, but was revived with Narcan. Police ID Man Found Stabbed To Death In Vehicle In Fairfield County Police have identified a man who was stabbed to death inside a vehicle in Fairfield County with multiple stab wounds. Fairfield County resident Jimmy Louis, age 43, was found inside the vehicle around 1 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 19 on Hamilton Avenue in Stamford, authorities said. Upon arrival, officers located the victim, who had multiple stab wounds to his upper body, said Lt. Tom Scanlon of the Stamford Police. Car Crashes Into Long Island Home Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash in which a car crashed into a Long Island home. Suffolk County Police officers responded just after 8 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18, in Holtsville. According to investigators, a man driving 2021 Kia lost control and drove through two fences and bushes and crashed into the porch of a house located on the 1100 block of North Ocean Avenue. The man and an adult female passenger were transported to local hospitals with minor injuries. The Brookhaven Town Building Inspector responded to evaluate the structure.

Firefighters Rescue Drivers From Flooded Roadways In Western Mass Two people had to be rescued in Western Massachusetts after their vehicle became stuck in high water due to heavy rainfall. The incident took place overnight on Thursday, Aug. 19 in Springfield on Roosevelt Avenue which is known for flooding, according to the Springfield Fire Department. The rescue comes as flash flooding is taking place throughout Western Massachusetts due to the remnants of Tropical Storm Fred. Officials are reminding drivers to avoid flooded roadways and to turn around if possible instead of driving through raging or high water.

Man's Toes Crushed During Accident At Fairfield County Recycling Plant A 52-year-old man had his toes crushed during an industrial accident in Connecticut. The incident took place around 1:340 p.m., Wednesday, Aug. 18, in Fairfield County at a scrap metal recycling plant at 266 Knowlton St., in Bridgeport, said Scott Appleby, director of Emergency Management. Western Mass Drive-By Shooting Causes Extensive Damage, Police Say A drive-by shooting in Western Massachusetts, the second in several days, caused extensive damage to the victim's home and vehicle. Connecticut Nurse Sentenced For Tampering With Liquid Morphine A Connecticut nurse was sentenced in federal court in Western Massachusetts for tampering with liquid morphine prescribed to a patient. Tolland County resident Danielle Works, 42, of Stafford Springs, was sentenced to 20 months in prison and three years of supervised release on Wednesday, Aug. 18, said US Attorney Nathaniel Mendell for the District of Massachusetts.
