Woman Found Stabbed To Death In Western Mass, Police Say A woman was found stabbed to death when police responded to a call for an injured person in Western Massachusetts. It happened in Springfield around 8:55 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 11, on Baldwin Street, said authorities. Arriving officers found the woman with several stab wounds and began first aid on her. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Springfield Police Spokesperson Ryan Walsh. The woman's identity has not yet been released. 41-Year-Old Killed In Crash At CT Shopping Plaza A 41-year-old man was killed in a crash between a Jeep Wrangler and a motorcycle at a Connecticut shopping plaza. It happened in Litchfield County around 10 p.m., Friday, Aug. 13, on East Main Street in Torrington. The 2011 Jeep Wrangler, driven by 58-year-old Daniel Gnitzcavich, of the Town of Harwinton, was attempting a left-hand turn across the eastbound lanes into the Market 32 Plaza, said Detective Kevin Tieman, of the Torrington Police. One Injured In Violent Four-Vehicle Crash In Fairfield County A violent four-vehicle crash in Fairfield County injured one person. It happened around 9 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 14, on Route 8 in Shelton. When responders arrived on the scene they found the crash which spanned more than 1,000 feet, according to the Shelton Fire Department. Man Shot Multiple Times On Street In Fairfield County, Police Say A man was shot multiple times while on a city street in what police in Fairfield County say is an "isolated incident." Police responded around 3 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, after receiving a report of a person shot on the 500 block of East Main Street in Bridgeport, authorities said. The victim, a 34-year-old Bridgeport man, was taken to an area hospital and treated for multiple gunshot wounds to the leg and buttocks, said Bridgeport PD Captain Kevin Gilleran. Jet Ski Explodes, Injuring Driver's Face On Long Island, Police Say A jet ski driver received injuries to his face after his watercraft exploded in the water on Long Island. The explosion took place in Nassau County around 5 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 15 in Oyster Bay, authorities said. According to officers aboard Nassau County Marine 11, while on patrol in the waterways the crew heard a possible explosion, then saw smoke confirming their suspicions. Petition Started To Rename New TZB To Honor Hudson Valley Firefighter Who Died Rescuing Others Following the scandal and resignation of Gov. Andrew Cuomo, a Change.Org petition has been started and gained more than 9,000 signatures to change the official name of the new Tappan Zee Bridge to honor a Rockland County firefighter who died rescuing others. Woman Found Dead In Submerged Vehicle At CT Park, Police Say Police are investigating after a woman was found dead inside a fully submerged vehicle at a Connecticut park. The woman was found around 3:50 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 15, in New Haven County at Lakewood Park in Waterbury. Two Arrested For Using Stolen Credit Cards At Fairfield County Businesses, Police Say Two men have been arrested for allegedly using stolen credit at numerous Fairfield County stores. Nywain Thomas, age 25, and Eric Wolf, age 22, both of Queens, New York, were arrested in Darien after officers responded to a report of two individuals possibly using fake banking cards, according to authorities. Police Cruiser Shot, Bullet Barely Misses Officer In Western Mass A Western Massachusetts police officer barely missed being shot when a bullet flew through the windshield of his police cruiser while parked at city gas pumps.
