Jersey Shore Roller Rink Staying Open Under New Ownership
A Jersey Shore roller skating center that last month announced its closure is staying open after all. The Jackson Skating Rink — which opened in 1978 — will remain in business as United Skates Jackson, as new ownership took over just before it was set to close in early October. Funeral services have been set for 41-year-old Corrine Episcopo-Daniels, whose death is being investigated as a homicide. According to her obituary, Corrine was the first girl to play in the 6/11 Little League Baseball League and later went on to work for the New Jersey Office of Technology for 23 years. A North Jersey high school dean of senior students has been fired after being arrested on accusations he tried meeting a teen for sex, authorities said. Didier Jean-Baptiste, 54, of Jersey City — a dean at St. Benedict’s Preparatory School in Newark — arranged to meet a person who he believed was a teen for sex in Harrison, Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez said. US Marshals Nab NJ Murder Suspect In Philadelphia
Members of the US Marshals Service captured a New Jersey man wanted for murder in Philadelphia, authorities said. Michael Cruz, 20, had been wanted in the Plainfield killing of Somerset's David Michael Buck on Sept. 17, Union County Prosecutor William A. Daniel and Plainfield Police Director James T. Abney said. Cruz was captured on Monday, Oct. 3 and is pending extradition proceedings to return to New Jersey, authorities said. Houlihan's Closes Two North Jersey Locations
Two Houlihan's locations in North Jersey have closed, NJ Advance Media reports. The Bridgewater and Parsippany restaurants apparently closed on Sept. 28, the outlet said. The stores were located on 1288 Route 22 E. and 1735 Route 46. The restaurant chain did not say why the locations shuttered. Employees will be relocated to other locations, officials said. Anabella "Bella" Marie Giacobbe, the 22-year-old daughter of Rahway Mayor Raymond Giacobbe Jr. and school board member Laura Giacobbe, died on Sept. 24. Bella was an honor roll student at Union Catholic High School, where she played volleyball, lacrosse, and track and field, her obituary says. She graduated from Rutgers University last May with a degree in psychology.
