A 48-year-old motorcyclist was killed in a crash on I-84 on Thursday.

The crash occurred around 7:01 a.m. at the Rochambeau Bridge in Southbury, when William Jasmin of Danbury lost control of his motorcycle, according to Connecticut State Police.

After losing control, the motorcycle struck the concrete bridge rail off the right side of the roadway, state police said.

Jasmin was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the right lane near the shoulder, state police said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The highway was shut down during the course of the investigation for several hours but has since reopened.

The crash is under investigation. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to contact Trooper Matthew Bell at Troop A 203-267-2200 or 1-800-375-991.
