BEYOND BERGEN: An 18-year-old man who told his girlfriend he was about to jump from the George Washington Bridge was actually at a Burger King parking lot in Pennsylvania, Port Authority police said.
Officer canvassed the bridge after getting the call just after midnight, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo said.
PAPD Lt. Michael Hennessy got the man’s phone number, called him and was told that he really was in his Hyundai SUV in Harrisburg, Pentangelo said.
Hennessy kept him on the phone while passing the information to an agent who called authorities in Pennsylvania.
A Hampton Township police sergeant took the man into custody moments later. He was taken to Harrisburg Hospital for evaluation.
