According to Capt. Kenneth Roman, a man called the agency by telephone reporting that a bomb was placed inside the building.

Initial responding officers secured the area and communications with the suspect were turned over to a member of the police department’s Crisis Negotiation Team, Roman said.

The building was searched and cleared by members of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team and explosive detection police K-9’s, he added.

The police department was assisted at the scene by the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Department.

The investigation is continuing and anyone with information is asked to call the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department at 845-485-3666.
