DWI Red Hook Man Caught In Chase After Driving 83 MPH, Police Say

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - An impaired Dutchess County driver took state police on a wild ride in Red Hook as he attempted to flee from troopers.

State police troopers on patrol on Route 9G on Tuesday attempted to conduct a traffic stop of 22-year-old Red Hook resident Ryan Vogel, when he was spotted driving 83 mph in a 55 mph zone.

The trooper activated his emergency lights to initiate the stop, but Vogel took off down Rokeby Road to Route 9 before finally relenting on Colburn Drive and ending the chase, police said.

Vogel was arrested and charged with a felony count of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was also charged with unlawfully fleeing a police officer in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated, misdemeanors. He was also cited for possession of marijuana.

Police issued an appearance ticket to Vogel and he is due to appear in the Town of Red Hook Justice Court to answer the charges on Sept. 28.
