Ex-Dover, Pawling Priest Pulled From Churches After Sex Abuse Allegations

DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- A priest who was running two parishes in Dutchess County last month has been accused of molesting a 15-year-old teen at a church in the Bronx more than 30 years ago, according to the Daily News.

Father Anthony Giuliano, who ran two parishes in Dutchess County, has been removed from serving amid allegations of child sexual abuse.

Father Anthony Giuliano, who is known for saying homosexuals needed to live a "celibate life" to be good Catholics, was removed from the two parishes immediately by the Archdiocese of New York after receiving the complaint from the now 43-year-old victim, said the Daily News.

The Archdiocese told parishioners at St. John the Evangelist in Pawling and St. Charles Borromeo in Dover Plains that the allegations have been found to be credible, the Daily News reported.

But despite any truth to the claim, Giuliano will most likely never be charged because of the statute of limitation on child sex abuse in New York, said the Daily News.

The man told the Bronx Special Victims Unit that he was working in the rectory of a church in Baychester when the abuse occurred between 1987 and 1988. The New York City Police Department is investigating the case to see if there may be additional victims, said the Daily News.
