Alerted to a possible jumper, PAPD Officers Fred Corrubia III and John Battaglia couldn’t find anyone fitting the woman’s description the bridge before spotting her talking on a cellphone near the corner of 178th Street and Cabrini Boulevard at 1:25 p.m., the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT.

“They asked her whether she was just on the bridge,” Pentangelo said, “and she handed them her cellphone.

“The man on the other end identified himself as her husband told them she’s a suicide risk,” he added.

The woman agreed to go to the hospital and was taken to Columbia Presbyterian roughly 15 minutes after the officers found her, Pentangelo said.

The PAPD records such incidents as “interventions.”
