Durwood Gray Ward Jr. 48, of Winnabow, NC, drove a 2007 Peterbuilt truck through the toll with no transponder or license plate, the authority’s Joseph Pentangelo told CLIFFVIEW PILOT this morning.

The truck was impounded and a judge ordered Ward held in the Bergen County Jail pending extradition proceedings.

Port Authority police charged him with theft of services and being a fugitive from justice.

North Carolina corrections records list Ward as having “absconded” rather than face larceny charges.
