A 46-year-old area woman was arrested for stealing more than $6,000 from her employee.
Sonya R. Cooper of Poughkeepsie was arrested Friday, Oct. 12 following an investigation by the Town of Lloyd Police, said Lt. James Janso.
Cooper, who was charged with felony grand larceny and felony forgery, is accused of forging and cashing checks in excess of more than $6,000 from an 82-year-old Highland woman over the course of the six months she was employed as a home health aide, Janso said.
Cooper was released following arraignment and is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 18.
