Deputies responded to a 911 call of a burglary in progress on Christiansen Lane in which the home was forcibly entered and someone inside was injured around 5 p.m., said Capt. John Watterson.

When deputies arrived, the suspects had left the scene, however, they were able to receive a detailed vehicle description and a vehicle matching the description was stopped close to the home, Watterson said.

Inside the vehicle was Justino Reyes, 38, and Kayla Brooks, 21, who were arrested and charged with felony burglary, he added.

The victim suffered minor injuries, and although the motive is still under investigation it is not believed to be random, Watterson said.

Both Reyes and Brooks are being held at the Dutchess County Jail. Brooks on $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond. Reyes is being held without bail.

The investigation is continuing and more charges are possible. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police.
