Incumbent Rep. John Faso (R-Kinderhook) looks to be in the fight of his life when he runs for a second term next year.
Two Democrats have more cash on hand than Faso, who represents the 19th District, which covers a portion of East Dutchess. Faso has eight Democratic challengers, including Rhinebeck lawyer Anthony Delgado who has $590,319 cash on hand and businessman Brian Flynn, who has $715,967 cash on hand after loaning his campaign $500,000. Faso has $495,875 cash on hand, according to second quarter fundraising records filed with the Federal Election Commission.
Political analysts view Faso's race as one to watch, with the Cook Political Report listing his district as a "toss up." In 2016, Faso defeated Democrat Zephyr Teachout 54.7 percent to 45.3 percent.
