Faso, who represents the 19th District, which includes part of East Dutchess, said at a town hall he's had more than 75,000 communications since he took office in January.

The event was organized by Move Forward New York and attended by 200 people.

When asked whether President Donald Trump was mentally fit to serve, Faso said the voters of the 19th District supported him last November.

"Look at the election results in this district," Faso said. "He won the district by six points, I won by about 8.5 points. I would point out sometimes voters make a mistake. I ran against Eliot Spitzer."

In response to a question, Faso said he put out a statement condemning the events in Charlottesville the day after he returned from Israel and said the Justice Department needs to enforce hate crime legislation.

Faso also defended his support for the American Health Care Act saying he believed it would improve the health care system.
