Spackenkill School District officials are warning parents about a person who asked a student to get inside a white van on Tuesday.

The notice, sent out via school messenger by Superintendent of Schools Mark Villanti, said the district was notified by parents of a high school student that she was approached on Spacenkill Road by a person in the van that had commercial lettering on the side.

"Fortunately, the high school student had the good common sense to flee the scene," Villanti said in the alert.

The district has also alerted the police department which is looking into the incident.
