Six people were injured and one person killed in a crash in Rockingham County last week, authorities said.
A 2009 Chevrolet Impala was traveling east on Route 259 (Brocks Gap Road) when it rear-ended a 2015 Ford E350 bus, which was stopped for another eastbound vehicle making a turn around 9:55 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, Virginia State Police said.
The driver of the Chevrolet, Thomas L. Breighner, 86, of Timberville, VA, died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

A doctor from Philadelphia who has been working as a librarian at Princeton University but known globally for his scholarly work has died following a pedestrian crash in Scotland.
William Noel, 58, was struck by a Citroen Relay van in the evening hours of Wednesday, April 10 in Edinburgh, police in Scotland said. He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, where he died of his injuries on Monday, April 29, police said.
