Trooper Dies During Training: Officials
A New Jersey State Police trooper has died suddenly, the department said. Trooper II Marcellus E. Bethea, who worked in Troop D at the Moorestown station, died during training, Colonel Patrick J. Callahan said. Bethea was an eight-year NJSP veteran and was a member of the 156th State Police Class. According to New Jersey Attorney General Matthew Platkin, Bethea had been training to join the TEAMS Unit, an emergency response unit "prepared to handle extra ordinary police emergencies," the NJSP website says. Unlicensed 'Attorney' Must Repay $26K Stolen From Unsuspecting Clients: Bucks DA
A Bucks County man who pretended to be an attorney for years has been sentenced to prison time and ordered to repay his unsuspecting clients the $26,000 he made off of them, authorities announced. On Friday, May 3, Michael J. McAndrew, 58, of Morrisville, was sentenced to nine to 23 months in the Bucks County Correctional Facility for practicing law without a law license and taking thousands of dollars in legal fees from unsuspecting clients, the Bucks County District Attorney's Office said in a news release. Officer Rescuing Victim, Firefighter Hospitalized In Massive Lakewood Blaze: Prosecutor
A firefighter, a police officer, and a civilian were hospitalized in a fire in Lakewood caused by improperly discarded smoking material early Saturday, May 4, authorities said. A woman was hospitalized with a severe leg injury after being struck by a train in Morristown on Saturday, May 4, NJ Transit officials said. Fiery Crash Hospitalizes Driver On Route 287
An early-morning crash on Route 287 sent one person to the hospital, police said A Toyota and Subaru collided on the northbound side of the highway around 4 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, causing the Toyota to erupt in flames near milepost 26 in Bernards Township, New Jersey State Police Sgt. Jeffrey Lebron said. Both drivers suffered minor injuries and the driver of the Toyota was taken to an area hospital for further medical evaluation.
