NORWALK, Conn. -- Students looking to work in hospitals and long-term care nursing facilities will have the opportunity to pursue a Certified Nurse Aide course with Extended Studies and Workforce Education at Norwalk Community College this fall. Former Brookfield School Employee Makes Reparations To Town
BROOKFIELD, Conn. -- The former assistant to the Brookfield School finance manager has sent the town a check for the $26,500 she stole from the school in a scheme with her former boss, Art Colley, according to WLAD. Elizabeth Kerekes will have her charges erased as part of the settlement that saw her return the money and requires her to not commit a crime for the next couple of years, according to WLAD. Bridgeport Police Continue Search For Clues In House Party Shooting
BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- The efforts of Bridgeport police, the U. S. Department of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms and Federal Bureau of Investigation have been unable to find any leads in a mass shooting Sunday that left 13 injured, according to the Connecticut Post. Police said that two shooters fired at the Plymouth Street backyard party through a hedge at around 1:30 a.m. Sunday. The majority of the 13 victims have been released from the hospital, however one woman remains at Yale-New Haven Hospital in serious condition, according to the Connecticut Post. BRIDGEPORT, Conn. -- A Bridgeport woman has launched a petition to create a dog park in her Black Rock neighborhood for local pups to socialize and release some energy. Aliza Miklos' petition at change.org can be found by clicking here and has 58 of 100 wanted supporters thus far. The petition mentions the lack of a completely fenced in space for dogs in the area of Black Rock after the loss of access to St. Ann's field. Gas Prices Creep Upward In Connecticut And Nation
STAMFORD, Conn. -- Connecticut and national average gas prices are creeping slowly upward after nearly eight weeks of decline, according to AAA Northeast. As of Aug. 22, Connecticut’s average gas price of $2.26 has increased four cents compared to this time last week, a slow climb that started late last week. Nationally, the average price of a gallon of gas also increased by four cents from today’s $2.16 average from last week’s $2.12.
