Federal agents in New Jersey say that they have arrested four more illegally present immigrants convicted of sex crimes against children — bringing the total to eight arrests since late July.
The sweep, carried out by ICE Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) Newark, targeted criminal non-citizens across Bergen, Hudson, Essex, and Sussex counties, the Office of Homeland Security said in a news release.

Five New Jersey employees say they were gassed by their own employer while picketing at an industrial facility, twice in two states, according to a lawsuit filed in Bergen County Superior Court this week.
The plaintiffs, all employees of Airgas USA, LLC and members of Local 701 of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters (IBT), allege in court papers filed Wednesday, Aug. 6, that they were “engaged in lawful and peaceful picketing activity” outside Airgas locations in Oakland, NJ and Peoria, IL in July when they were engulfed by an unknown chemical plume.

Male, 19, Kidnapped, Sexually Assaulted By 63-Year-Old Man In Paterson: Prosecutor
A 63-year-old Paterson man has been arrested for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 19-year-old man, authorities said.
Nahum Maldonado was taken into custody without incident around 7:30 p.m. on July 30, near East 15th Street and Lyon Street in Paterson, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes said in a release Thursday, Aug. 7.
The arrest followed a report made to the Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit on Aug. 20, around 5:10 p.m., Valdes said.
A 19-year-old man told police he had been sexually assaulted earlier in the day in Paterson, the prosecutor said.

Two New York men have been charged in connection with a stolen vehicle fire that lit up a Rochelle Park parking lot last winter, authorities said.
Ethan Olivo, 19, and Starlin Siri, 21, both of the Bronx, were charged in the Dec. 3, 2024, blaze that consumed a 2020 Honda Accord on Rochelle Avenue just after 7 a.m., Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said in a Thursday, Aug. 7 release.
