Man Killed In Morris County Car Crash ID'ed: Police Police have identified the 65-year-old Morris Plains man who was killed after his car crashed into a tree on the morning of Tuesday, Feb. 6. At 10 a.m., a vehicle, driven by John McTernan, traveling south on Littleton Road near Route 202 struck a tree in the area of Totten Way, Morris Plains police said. No other vehicles were involved, police said. McTernan was transported to Morristown Medical Center where he was pronounced dead, police said. The crash remains under investigation, police said.

One Killed In Roxbury Township Fire: Prosecutors A person was killed in a structure fire in Roxbury Township on the early morning of Thursday, Feb. 8, the Morris County Prosecutor's Office said.  At 3:10 a.m. Firefighters responded to a residence on Raritan Avenue and recovered the remains of one individual, who has not been identified, Megan Knab, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office said. The Morris County Prosecutor's Office Arson and Environmental Crimes Unit is investigating, Knab said.

Emaciated Senior Cat Abandoned Outside Plainfield Shelter An emaciated senior cat was abandoned on the front porch of the Plainfield Area Humane Society on the evening of Wednesday, Feb. 7, the shelter said.  The black cat was left outside all night in the cold, "shivering and scared for his life," the shelter said on Facebook. The shelter posted video of the cat being left behind.  Once staff discovered him, he was warmed up with food and a heating pad and is currently sleeping peacefully, the shelter said.
