Newark Man, 39, Fatally Shot: Authorities A 39-year-old Newark man was fatally shot on the early morning of Tuesday, Dec. 19, authorities said. At 3:58 a.m., Newark police responded to a shooting on the 300 block of Broadway and found Antoine Alston suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Theodore N. Man Fatally Struck By Vehicle Crossing Highway: Linden Police (Update) A 60-year-old Linden man was fatally struck by a vehicle on Monday, Dec. 18, police said. A 78-year-old man and an 83-year-old woman from Old Bridge were heading south on Route 1 when they fatally struck the man as he crossed the highway at 6:49 p.m., police said.  The man was pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Police declined to identify who was driving the vehicle, citing the ongoing investigation.
