Cars Crushed By Rock Slide In North Bergen: Reports Several cars parked at an apartment complex in North Bergen were crushed by a rock slide on Monday, Dec. 11, according to ABC 7. Nobody was injured though six to 12 cars parked at the Duchess apartment building on River Road were crushed by the rocks, witnesses told ABC 7. The rock slide was caused by the heavy rain that pelted the area on Sunday, Dec. 10. North Bergen Police did not respond to a request for comment. Newark Firefighter Rafael Padilla Dies, 44 Rafael Padilla, a longtime Newark firefighter, died on Tuesday, Dec. 5. A lifelong Newark resident, Padilla served as a sergeant in the US Army National Guard for 25 years and joined the Newark Fire Department in April 2007, being stationed at Truck 8 and Engine 27, according to his obituary. Man Shot Near Jersey City Charter School: Authorities A man is in critical condition after being shot in Jersey City on Monday, Dec. 11, authorities said. The man was shot in the area of Bramhall Avenue and Clerk Street, near Dr. Lena Edwards Academic School, Kimberly Wallace-Scalfione, a spokeswoman for the mayor's office said. Police recovered a handgun at the scene, Wallace-Scalfione said. The investigation is ongoing, Wallace-Scalfione said.

Hoboken Mayor Announces Congressional Run, Primarying Menendez Ravi Bhalla, the mayor of Hoboken, announced Tuesday, Dec. 12, he is running for Congress in New Jersey's 8th Congressional District. Bhalla will be primarying incumbent Rob Menendez (D-Jersey City), the son of Senator Robert Menendez, who was recently indicted on federal corruption charges. Pedestrian Struck Walking On Route 202: Police A pedestrian was seriously injured when they were struck by a vehicle early Saturday morning, Dec. 11, while walking on a highway in Bridgewater Township, authorities said.
