Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Clifton PD: Bicyclist Who Grabbed Pedestrian's Butt Busted Clifton police nabbed a bicyclist who they said grabbed a Passaic woman’s butt as she walked down a local street. Fredrick Stemcovski, 32, of Clifton rode slowly past the victim, then circled back and fondled her near the corner of Ackerman Avenue and Randolph avenues, Lt. Robert Bracken said. The woman reported it to police, then alerted them when she spotted Stemcovski in the area of Nash Park the next day, the lieutenant said. Detectives who tracked down and arrested Stemcovski charged him with criminal sexual contact and released him pending a hearing.

Prosecutor: Man Who Torched Lakewood Home With 3 People Inside Charged with Attempted Murder A Jersey Shore man set a Lakewood home ablaze with three people inside, said authorities who charged him with attempted murder. U.S. Marshals captured Jamal Preston, 25, of Egg Harbor Township on Monday and turned him over to local authorities to be charged with four counts of aggravated arson in the Aug. 22 fire on Park Place, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Paterson Police Bust 3 Out-Of-State Men With Loaded Gun, Drugs Paterson police detectives arrested three out-of-state men after they said they found one of them carrying a loaded gun. Detectives Mustafa Dombayci, Mohamad Bashir and Yamil Piminenta were in the area of Washington Avenue and Spring Street around 7:45 p.m. Saturday when the silver Nissan with Georgia license plates sped by, Police Director Jerry Speziale said. Hero: Bergen Sheriff's Officer Revives OD Victim At Hackensack Wawa A Bergen County sheriff's officer revived a drug overdose victim from Englewood at a Hackensack convenience store. Officer John Ryan Greiner administered Narcan to the unconscious 41-year-old opioid victim at the Wawa on River Street shortly after 8:30 a.m. Sunday, Bergen County Sheriff Anthony Cureton said. The man eventually came around and was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center, the sheriff said.
