Born in Newark and raised in Hudson County, Jerry DeMarco is a 38-year veteran of the news industry and a renowned breaking news reporter. He has covered local, county and state police, as well as the FBI, ATF and other federal agencies.

DeMarco joined Daily Voice in 2015 after six years running Cliffview Pilot, one of the nation's few independent breaking news sites. As an independent publisher, he helped establish Local Independent Online News, a national trade organization.

Prior to launching his own site, DeMarco served as a reporter for the Bergen Record, Stamford Advocate, Rockland Journal News, News Tribune, and Trenton Times.

DeMarco has won national recognition for his investigative work, including Clarion, Heywood Broun and Deadline Club awards. He's changed public policy and managed several major projects -- including one that helped put a corrupt public official in federal prison and another that forced a sitting New Jersey attorney general from office for her participation in a Bergen County traffic stop involving her boyfriend.

DeMarco regularly lectures at a graduate course in media relations at Fairleigh Dickinson University and previously was an adjunct professor at Lehman College in the Bronx.

He has a Bachelor's Degree in English from St. Peter's University in Jersey City.

Cliffside Park Pre-Teen Fondled By Jersey Shore 'Caretaker,' Authorities Charge A Jersey Shore man molested an 11-year-old Cliffside Park girl who was in his care, authorities charged. Marquis Howard, 27, of Pleasantville (Atlantic County) remained held Thursday in the Bergen County Jail pending a first appearance in Central Judicial Processing Court in Hackensack. 'American Ninja Warrior' Champ Charged With Having Sex With Underage Teen In NJ, CT Last year’s $1 million winner of TV’s “American Ninja Warrior” competition lured an underage girl to New Jersey and Connecticut for sex, said federal authorities who arrested him. Driver Hospitalized In Fair Lawn Crash A driver was hospitalized after her sedan slammed into a utility pole Wednesday afternoon in Fair Lawn. A passenger escaped injury after the Infiniti slammed into the pole in the 1600 block of Kipp Street. The Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps took the driver to The Valley Hospital in Ridgewood with injuries that weren't considered life-threatening. A tow truck removed the sedan.

NJ Landlord Demanded Sex For Housing, Lower Rents, Justice Department Charges For at least 15 years, an Elizabeth landlord has demanded sexual favors from tenants to get or keep apartments while offering reduced rent to others in exchange for sex, federal authorities charged. Hawthorne Man Who Fired Shots Through Neighbor's Window Says He Was Aiming At Pesky Critters A Hawthorne man who fired two bullets through a neighbor’s window said he'd aimed at critters in his vegetable garden but missed, authorities said. Tragic Accident: Bergen Man, 68, Electrocuted By Wire Downed By Storm A River Vale father of two was electrocuted Wednesday when he apparently touched a live wire downed by Tropical Storm Isaias, responders said. Rockland Man, 71, Falls Nearly 20 Feet From Ladder Helping Mahwah Friend After Storm A 71-year-old Rockland man trying to help a Mahwah homeowner remove a tree branch from his roof following Tuesday’s storm lost his balance and fell nearly 20 feet off a ladder, authorities said. Hasbrouck Heights PD: Garfield Gunman Who Shot At Teen In Drive-By Captured In Passaic Hasbrouck Heights detectives captured a Garfield man who they said tried to kill a borough teen in a drive-by shooting just off Route 46.
