Morristown Mourns Retired Police Lieutenant Matthew Rawding A longtime Morristown police lieutenant who spent more than 27 years serving the community has died, the Morristown Department of Public Safety announced. Retired Lt. Matthew David Rawding, 64, of Morris Plains, died on Wednesday, Sept. 23, after what his department described as a "courageous fight." He was 64 years old. Born in Orange on Oct. 4, 1961, Rawding spent part of his childhood in Glen Ridge and Illinois before his family settled in Convent Station, according to his obituary on the Doyle Funeral Home website.
