Leatrice Kay Grubman, 81, Longtime Mamaroneck Resident
MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Leatrice Kay Grubman, a longtime resident of Mamaroneck, died Monday, Sept. 7, just before her 82nd birthday. Grubman was born in the Bronx to Solomon and Lena Lask.
She was a homemaker and was known for her cooking and generous nature. Her passion was children and spent many years as a child care provider after her own children went off to college.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Grubman.
She is survived by her daughters, Diana Perez (Donald) and Michelle Miyashita (Tak); and her grandchildren, Joanna, Andrew, Kristy and Sammie.

Stephen S. Santangelo, 95, Harrison Resident
HARRISON, N.Y. -- Stephen S. Santangelo, of Harrison, died at home on Friday, Sept. 4, at age 95. He was born in Rye on April 11, 1920, to Giacamo and Concetta Santangelo.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the proprietor of Harbor Marine Canvas in Mamaroneck, specializing in custom alterations.
He was predeceased by his wife, Frances (Cavalluzzi) Santangelo; a daughter, Janet Sposato; and siblings, Tillo Santangelo, Jack Santangelo and Ann Wright.

Armonk Firm Receives Fines For Safety Violations
PORT CHESTER, N.Y. -- A federal agency has fined three companies working on the old Rye Town Hall in Port Chester for safety violations, according to a report in LoHud.com.
The U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration in July issued fines totaling $11,480 to the contractors for unsafe excavation conditions at 10 Pearl St., LoHud.com reported.
The penalized companies are Carvalho Construction Corp., of New Fairfield, Conn.; 10 South Pearl St. LLC, of Armonk; and Lea-Rome Inc., of Putnam Valley, according to LoHud.com.

Two Putnam Merchants Face Charges For Underage Alcohol Sales
PUTNAM COUNTY, N.Y. -- Two people have been charged with violating alcoholic beverage sales law, according to Putnam County Sheriff Donald B. Smith.
The people charged and businesses that failed a recent compliance check are: Eljo Joseph, 35, Shell Gas, 3411 Danbury Road, Southeast; and Nicholas Ligouri, 58, Bella Vino Spirits, Routes 6/22, Southeast. At both businesses, the clerks -- accused of completing sales without requiring proper identification -- were charged with first-degree unlawfully dealing with a child and issued an appearance ticket returnable to Southeast Town Court.

Bedford's Temple Shaaray Invites Community To High Holy Day Services
BEDFORD, N.Y. -- For the 10th year, Temple Shaaray Tefila in Bedford Corners offers High Holy Day services.
Led by Rabbi Stacy Bergman, the services will be held on the mornings of Rosh Hashanah, Monday, Sept. 14, and Yom Kippur, Wednesday, Sept. 23 in the sanctuary at the temple.

Jerry R. Gelardo Sr., 81, Mamaroneck Police Sergeant
MAMARONECK, N.Y. -- Jerry R. Gelardo Sr., of Mamaroneck, died after a battle with MDS. He was 81. He was born Feb. 9, 1934, in Mount Vernon to Ralph and Pearl (Silver) Gelardo.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1956-58. Following his service, he joined the village of Mamaroneck Police Department, serving 29 years and achieving the rank of sergeant. He was an outdoors enthusiast who enjoyed camping, hunting and fishing. He was also an extraordinary chef.
He was predeceased by his wife of 46 years Mary Jane (nee DiLeo).
