Dutchess Chamber Honors '40 Under 40'
Forty of Dutchess' best and brightest under 40 were honored Tuesday at the ChangePoint Theatre in Poughkeepsie by the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce at its annual gala. Friends Rally To Help 4-Year-Old Son Of Newtown Woman Killed In Crash
NEWTOWN, Conn. — Friends of a 27-year-old Newtown woman who died in a motorcycle crash are rallying to help her 4-year-old son while mourning and preparing for her funeral services on Friday. "On April 23, 2017, my dear friend Jackie took her last ride," her friend Ashley Hubbard posted on a GoFundMe page in tribute to her friend, Jackie Schulz. Putnam Service Dogs Unveil First Puppies
The puppies at Putnam Service Dogs in Brewster are ready to go to work.Putnam Service Dogs introduced its first three puppies that will begin training to become service dogs. The puppies all came from high kill shelters and were adopted from local rescue groups. The first classes begin Thursday. Anna is a 12-week-old yellow lab mix that was rescued from Puerto Rico and flown up by PawSafe, a rescue group in Danbury. Community Rallies Around Family After 6-Year-Old Dutchess Boy Dies
A family that recently immigrated to Poughkeepsie is raising money to help pay for the cost of burying their 6-year-old child back home in Guatemala. A GoFundMe page has been set up for the family of Walter Arias, who passed away last week after battling digestive issues. Almost $1,500 has been raised as of March 31. WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. -- New Hackensack Fire Chief Anthony Marquez was recently honored for saving another man's life. Marquez was presented with the 2017 Hometown Hero Award by The Exchange Club on March 16 in recognition of his rescue of a man from a burning building last summer.
