Jon graduated from Cornell University and received his master's degree in journalism from Northwestern University. Across a 35-year career, he's worked as a reporter for daily newspapers in Chicago, New York, Ohio & Washington, D.C and as managing editor for weekly newspapers in Rye, White Plains and Harrison.

73 Beach Patrol Violations Found On Jersey Shore By NJ Labor Department Prompted by two lifeguard deaths, the New Jersey Department of Labor recently inspected beach patrols across the Jersey Shore. Atlantic City Cracks Down On ATVs, Dirt Bikes At Gas Pumps: Report ATVs and dirt bikes are no longer allowed to fill up their tanks at the gas pumps in Atlantic City, NJ Advance Media reported. City officials passed a new law, by a 7-2 vote for the new restriction which follows an earlier ban on all local roads. Now, ATVs and dirt bikes must be in a trailer or the back of a truck to have their gas tanks filled up, the outlet said. Driver Killed In Fiery Crash On Jersey Shore: Njsp A fatal crash occurred on the Jersey Shore, authorities said. The crash occurred at 10:41 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28 on Jonathan Holmes Road in Upper Freehold, New Jersey State Police said. Preliminary information indicates that a Mercedes Benz traveled off the roadway, struck a tree, and became engulfed in flames, SFC Lawrence Peele of the state police said.
