Blaze Forces Stop & Shop Location To Temporarily Close In Mount Vernon A Stop & Shop supermarket in Westchester is temporarily closed as the result of a fire, officials said. A blaze happened on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at the Stop & Shop on 240 East Sandford Blvd. in Mount Vernon, according to Mount Vernon Director of Communications Timothy Allen.  The fire, which began in the supermarket's heating, ventilation, and cooling system, was put out within 30 to 45 minutes by the Mount Vernon Fire Department, Allen said. Alert Issued For Man Reported Missing For Months In CT Authorities in Connecticut are asking for help in finding a man who has been missing for several months. Lane Closures: Stretch Of I-684 In Lewisboro, North Salem To Be Affected For Month A stretch of Interstate 684 in Northern Westchester is set to be affected by a series of upcoming midday lane closures for a month.  Interstate 684 between Exit 6 (Route 35) in Lewisboro and Exit 8 (Hardscrabble Road) in North Salem will be reduced to one lane in both directions on weekdays between Wednesday, Nov. 29, and Thursday, Dec. 28, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.  The lane reduction will be put into effect between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each weekday, officials said. The reduction will allow crews to perform aerial cable replacements.
