$1M Lottery Jackpot: Springfield Man Has Plans For His Big Win A Springfield man who won $1 million in the state lottery said he already knows the first thing he will buy with the money.  Kenneth Bernard won the six-figure prize playing the “$2,000,000 50X Cashword” $10 scratch-off game.  He chose to take the lump sum of $650,000 (before taxes) rather than the annuity.  Bernard said he plans to buy a new car with the money. He didn't specify what kind.  He bought the ticket at Pride Station & Store at 13 N. Main St. in East Longmeadow. The store will receive a $10,000 bonus for the sale.

Sex Offender Admits To Child Porn Charges In Western Mass: Feds A Berkshire County registered sex offender has pleaded guilty to child porn and weapons charges, federal authorities said.  Brian Hohman, 60, of Sandisfield, admitted to one charge of possession of child pornography and one charge of receipt and possession of an unregistered firearm on Wednesday, Jan. 24, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He remains in federal custody.  Police arrested Hohman in September after they found a sawed-off shotgun not registered to him at his home and a laptop, two phones, and a sim card containing child sexual abuse material, the prosecutor said.…

That's what police said one Worcester County woman did during a break-in at a home in Worcester earlier this week.  Valdirene Da Cruz is charged with mayhem, assault and battery causing serious bodily injury, and breaking and entering during the nighttime to commit a felony, Milford police said.  Da Cruz and two men broke into a Milford home around 3 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21. 'We’re Completely Lost': Young Daughter Of Patriots Reporter Dies Year After Cancer Diagnosis Hallie Kyed put up a valiant fight, but after a nearly yearlong battle with cancer, the 2-year-old daughter of the Patriots reporter for the Boston Herald has died, her father announced on Instagram.  Hallie was diagnosed in April 2023 with Acute Myeloid Leukemia, an aggressive type of cancer that attacks bone marrow, a GoFundMe campaign set up for her said.
