Multiple Springfield Shootings Monday Have Police Searching For Answers Springfield police are investigating two shootings that happened Monday, Jan. 16. The first was reported around 11 a.m. on Mattoon Street, tweeted Ryan Walsh, spokesman for the Springfield Police Department. Officers found a man bleeding from non-life-threatening injuries. Man Groped Crewman Aboard Boston-Bound Cruise Ship: Feds A Minnesota man accused of groping a male crewmember of a luxury cruise ship last year was indicted on federal sex charges, authorities said. Daniel Farias, 45, faces a single count of abusive sexual contact during a trip from Reykjavík, Iceland, to Boston in August, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. Springfield Man Who Shot Someone 6 Times Sentenced To Decade In Prison: DA A judge sentenced a Springfield man who shot his rival six times to at least a dozen years behind bars — if not longer, authorities announced. Edgar Gomez-Diaz was convicted on seven charges, including armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon resulting in serious bodily injury, and multiple firearms charges, the Hampden District Attorney's Office said. Acton Hazmat Teams Respond After Garbage Man Nearly Faint After Inspecting Load: Officials Hazmat teams in Acton were called out to a potential hazardous materials incident after a trash truck driver nearly fainted after picking up a load on Friday, Jan. 13, officials said. The driver said he picked up trash around 9 a.m. in the area of 100 Nagog Park Drive when he began to feel dizzy and light-headed after inspecting the truck's load, fire officials said. The hazmat team inspected the load and determined it a Tier 1 situation, the lowest and less dangerous. They cleared the truck around 1 p.m. Paramedics took the driver to a local hospital for evaluation.

Taunton Sex Offender With Hundreds Of Child Porn Images Gets 10 Years: Feds A 60-year-old sex offender who copped to having hundreds of images of child porn on his computer will spend the next decade in prison, a judge ruled this week. Rudy Frabizio of Taunton, who pleaded guilty to one count of child porn possession in September, was sentenced on Thursday, Jan. 12, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said. He was previously convicted of child porn charges in 2009. One Person Killed In Early Morning Springfield Fire: Officials A woman who was injured in an early morning fire in Springfield has died from her injuries, state fire officials said. Taunton Romance Scammer Must Repay Victims $1.1M, Spend 2 Years In Prison: Feds A Taunton man who conned several people into giving him more than $1 million must repay his victims once he gets out of prison, a judge ruled on Thursday, Jan. 21. Francis Okafor, 30, was sentenced to two years in prison after he pleaded guilty to one count of bank fraud, the US Attorney for Massachusetts said.
