Lirr Back In Service After Train Hits Car On Tracks Train service on the Long Island Railroad's Montauk branch was temporarily suspended after a vehicle was struck by a westbound train. The crash took place around 10:25 a.m., Tuesday, Oct. 26, when a westbound Montauk Branch train from Patchogue headed for Babylon hit a car on the tracks east of Sayville, said the MTA. One person in the vehicle was taken to the hospital, a railroad spokesman said.  The number of people in the vehicle and what caused the collision are still under investigation.

Woman Found Dead Inside Her Connecticut Apartment With 'Obvious Signs Of Trauma' Police are investigating the murder of a Connecticut woman found inside her apartment with obvious signs of trauma. Catherine Hays, age 53, of Hartford, was found around 1 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25, after police responded to a possible medical call. According to Lt. Aaron Boisvert, of the Hartford Police, patrol officers, along with EMS responded to an apartment at 93 Spring St. on a possible medical call. Man Found Shot Dead On Long Island Sidewalk Police are asking the public for help after a man was found lying on a sidewalk shot to death on Long Island. The 23-year-old man was found around 2 p.m., Monday, Oct. 25 when Nassau County Police responded to a reported car crash in Baldwin. According to detectives, officers received a call for an auto accident with injury.
