Joe Lombardi, Daily Voice's Managing Editor, has spent his professional career as a newsroom director, manager, editor, producer, writer, reporter and broadcaster who has worked at major websites, television networks, newspapers, magazines and radio stations and as a book author.

The Manhattan native, Irvington (NY) High School and University of Dayton graduate has been actively involved in web publishing for more than 25 years. In addition, he also has expertise in marketing, public relations and social media.

Lombardi rejoined Daily Voice in September 2013 as managing editor after serving as sports editorial consultant from August 2011 through January 2012. He was named to oversee editorial operations in the fall of 2017.

Person Found Dead After Fire Breaks Out At Hempstead Residence A body was found after a house fire broke out on Long Island. The blaze began around 6:30 p.m. Saturday, April 29 in Hempstead at a detached garage at the residence at 96 Albemarle Ave., Nassau County Police said. Hempstead Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire. A male was located and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. Neither his age nor identity were immediately released. Homicide and Arson/Bomb Squad Detectives responded to the location. The investigation is ongoing. Check back to Daily Voice for updates.

Suspects On Loose After Attempted Armed Robbery At Riverhead Liquor Store Two suspects are on the loose after an overnight attempted armed robbery at a Long Island liquor store. It happened around 8:10 p.m. Saturday, April 29 in Riverhead. That's when the two masked men entered Lucky Wines & Liquors at 134 West Main St. with what appeared to be a handgun and demanded money, the Riverhead Town Police Department said. Both subjects fled the store with no proceeds. Riverhead Police patrol units and Riverhead K-9 unit canvassed the area and were unable to locate the suspects. New Stronger System Will Bring Scattered Thunderstorms With Gusty Winds: Here's Timing A second, stronger storm system of the weekend will bring scattered thunderstorms and gusty winds to the region. Long Island Man Driving Drunk Crashes Into Cruiser In Massapequa, Police Say A man allegedly driving drunk crashed into a police vehicle on a Long Island roadway, according to authorities. The incident happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, April 29 in Massapequa. Suffolk County resident Rene Velasquez Guevara, age 52, of Medford, was operating a 2013 Jeep Wrangler heading southbound on Hicksville Road when he collided with the cruiser that was traveling northbound on Hicksville Road in the vicinity of Sunrise Highway. Gold Medal Flour Products Recalled Due To Salmonella Contamination General Mills is recalling Gold Medal flour products after Salmonella has turned up in testing. The company announced on Friday, April 28 a voluntary national recall of 2-, 5- and 10-pound bags of its Gold Medal Unbleached and Bleached All Purpose Flour with a “better if used by” date of March 27, 2024, and March 28, 2024.
