Trio Smashes Door Of Liquor Store, Steals $1K In Merch, Cash In Hawthorne Authorities are looking for three suspects who damaged a Northern Westchester liquor store and stole $1,000 in products and cash.  The burglary happened on Sunday, Feb. 11 at around 4 a.m. at the Hawthorne Wine and Spirits store located at 383 Elwood Ave., according to Mount Pleasant Police.  At that time, three suspects smashed the business's front door with rocks and entered the store for around two minutes before fleeing in an awaiting getaway car.  A patrol officer soon spotted the suspect vehicle speeding south on the Sprain Brook Parkway shortly after the burglary and …

The incident happened on Sunday, Feb. 11 around 3:45 a.m. in the area of Huguenot Street and Centre Avenue in New Rochelle, according to New Rochelle Police Captain J. Update: Police Still Searching For Vehicle With Dog Inside Stolen In Mount Vernon Authorities in Westchester are continuing their search for an unattended vehicle that was stolen while it had the owner's dog inside.  In an announcement on Tuesday, Feb. 20, the Mount Vernon Police Department said they are still on the lookout for a 2004 Honda Pilot with New Jersey license plate K47SSE that was taken from the 200 block of West 1st Street on Sunday, Jan. 7.  On the night of the theft, an unknown person entered the Honda while it was left running and unattended and drove off. 21-Year-Old Nabbed For Stealing Vehicle At Parking Garage In White Plains: Police A 21-year-old man faces charges after stealing a vehicle from a parking garage in Westchester, police announced. The man, whose name has not yet been released, was arrested on Monday, Feb. 19 after stealing a vehicle from a parking garage in White Plains at 44 South Broadway, White Plains Public Safety announced on Tuesday, Feb. 20. The suspect also damaged the garage's automatic gate in the process, police said. The man was charged with grand larceny and criminal mischief, according to authorities.  More details about the incident were not released.

Man Steals Snickers Bar In Yorktown, Police Say As proof that the law applies to even the smallest crimes, a 55-year-old man was nabbed after pocketing a Snickers candy bar without paying for it at a Northern Westchester store, police said. The arrest followed an incident on Thursday, Feb. 8 at around 10:30 a.m., when an employee at the COCO Farms store at 3700 Barger St. in Yorktown reported a larceny to the town's police department.  According to Yorktown Police, an officer arrived at the store and met with the employee. Fish Tank Fire Ignites In Millwood Home Thanks to quick action from a Northern Westchester homeowner, a fish tank fire was stopped from being worse than it could have been.  The incident happened on Tuesday, Feb. 20 around 5 a.m., when the Millwood Fire Department was alerted of a fish tank fire at a residence in the hamlet.  Arriving crews soon determined that the blaze had been sparked by an overheated power strip underneath the tank and that the homeowner had been alerted of the fire by their smoke alarm.
